Bengaluru: Pediatrician Dr Vipin Vashishtha is reported to have been suspended from the advisory committee of the Indian Academy of Pediatrics, the leading association of Pediatricians in the country. The doctor has also approached the police to seek its help against the alleged manhandling that was done at the recent annual conference

TOI reports that on December 17th, 2016, the so-called whisteblower, wrote an open letter to all 24,000 members of the association alleging that the latest immunization guidelines are being tweaked in order to favor certain vaccine manufacturers. The doctor has alleged that as a result of this, he has been removed from the IAP's Advisory Committee on Vaccines and Immunisation Practices as well as was manhandled at PEDICON 2017,  IAP's 54th annual conference

"They were upset that I exposed their wrong doings. They were trying to debar me from the general body meeting on Friday. I told them to give me a chance to explain but they did not heed my request, and also manhandled me. I was then forced to approach the police," Vashishtha told TOI .

When contacted by the daily, Dr Karunakar, the event's chief organizing secretary confirmed Vashishtha's suspension from the executive board. "I don't want to comment further," he said.
