Anganwadi Centres significantly support public health care system: MP Chaudhary
''The centres have helped significantly the government and society in combating hunger and malnutrition,'' he added.
Jalandhar: The Anganwadi Centres play a significant role in the public health care system and provide pre-school education to the children, Member of Parliament Santokh Singh Chaudhary said here on Saturday, after inaugurating a room at the Anganwadi School in Mithapur, here.
He was accompanied by Jalandhar Cantt MLA Pargat Singh.
The room has been constructed at a cost of Rs three lakh, given by MP Chaudhary from his discretionary MPLAD funds.
Speaking after the inauguration, MP Chaudhary said that children and women from poor families are among the most neglected sections of society and to take care of their health and educational needs, the government had started the scheme of Anganwadi centres.
''The centres have helped significantly the government and society in combating hunger and malnutrition,'' he added.
He stated that the newly-constructed room would provide the infrastructure necessary to enhance the learning experience of children.
During the programme, Mr Singh interacted with the concerned officials and parents present. It was conveyed to him that about 125 Anganwadi centres running in urban areas of Jalandhar do not have buildings and rooms. He assured the officials that he would take up the matter with the government.
