Be true to patients, Kerala Governor tells doctors
Doctors need to be true to their patients and strictly adhere to the guidelines of the Medical Council of India, Kerala Governor Justice (Retd) P Sathasivam today said.
Inaugurating the Indian Medical Association's National South Zone's two-day Conference "NATSZ GPCON 2016" here, he said unethical approach of some hospitals and medical practioners were responsible for people believing against modern medical practices and medicines
The misinformation campaign against modern medical practices amongst the illiterate public should be faced with the alertness of our medical practioners, he said.
"In view of more public awarenessyoushould have to be true to your patients", he said suggesting that the medical fraternity should strictly adhere to the guidelines of the Medical Council of India.
Talking about doctors working in public sector hospitals, he said they have to attend 150-200 patients during their working hours. If something goes wrong, they were forced to face the public wrath and sometimes being manhandled by violent mobs.
The IMA should address these issues and frame better medical policies, the Governor said.

"In their ambition to become super speciality hospitals, some small and medium hospitals follow unethical practices with the help of medical practioners, resulting in general public believing against modern medical practices and medicines," he said.
