Blunder: Deceased, Retired Doctors given new Jobs by Bihar Govt
Currently, the health department officials are busy making suitable corrections after the errors were noticed.
Bihar: An embarrassing situation has surrounded the state health department after it issued a mega transfer list which included the names of those doctors who are either deceased or retired from their service.
The notification on the transfer of doctors in the state was issued on June 21, while the Bihar Health Minister Mangal Pandey was attending International Yoga Day celebrations. Some of the Blunders as reported by the New Indian Express include
- As per the listing, Dr Ashok Kumar Mishra, who had just eight days of service left before his retirement, has been transferred as the superintendent of the Sadar Hospital in Katihar.
- Dr SK Singh, who served as the medical officer for communicable diseases in Purnea district before he retired in January, was mentioned in the list and in fact, has been transferred as an additional chief medical officer in Madhepura district.
When asked the doctor about the supposed transfer, he told TNIE, "I do not know how this happened. I have received no communication about an extension of my services. But I am not willing to serve any more as I need rest and time with my family after spending long years in government service.”
In the meantime, the blunder didn’t leave the deceased doctors too.
- Dr Nagendra Bhushan Singh, who died on May 10 while on duty at a government hospital in Dumraon, has been promoted shifted to Nawada as superintendent of the district hospital. He was also directed to join the new assignment at the earliest, as per a transfer order dated June 21.
- Likewise, Dr Ramashankar Tiwary was named as the new superintendent of Sasaram Sadar Hospital even though he died on June 17.
