World Heart Day- Revisiting Metoprolol's Contribution to Cardiology - Video
Overview
This month, on September 29, 2024, as we celebrate World Heart Day, lets dive into the contribution of an age-old and trusted molecule Metoprolol, in the field of cardiology. Just last month, in August 2024, we marked the 46th anniversary of Metoprolol's approval.
Metoprolol has remained a resourceful pharmacological agent in cardiology practice in India. It has stood the test of scientific excellence, with robust real-world experience, and remains a valuable life-saving agent.
Joining us in today's discussion at the Medical Dialogues Show, we have with us Dr. Dilip Kumar, Senior Consultant Interventional Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist, Director of Cardiac Cath Lab, and Chief Academic Coordinator at Medica Institute of Cardiac Sciences.
He shares his insights on:
1. What are your thoughts on the robust legacy of Metoprolol in cardiology?
2. Which indications would you like to consider Metoprolol in cardiology?
3. As per a recently published 2024 expert opinion from Indian cardiologists; among beta-blockers, metoprolol is the first treatment choice for post-PCI and heart failure patients. What makes it such a special beta-blocker in India?
4. Another Indian study published earlier highlighted Metoprolol as the preferred BB for hypertension management in young adults. What is your take on it?
5. Any special Metoprolol anecdote from your vast clinical practice journey that comes to your mind and you may like to share with medical fraternity friends?
