AP: Doctor scammed for Rs. 1.5 lakh, medico arrested
Andhra Pradesh: A 50-year-old medico who was a RMP (Registered medical Practioner) was arrested on February 4 after he demanded Rs 14.8 lakh alleged of cheating doctors of private hospitals under the YSR Aarogyasri network.
According to the investigation , a doctor who owns a private hospital at Rayachoti had approached the local police with a complaint to according which on February 1, he had received a phone call from the accused, who identified himself as Dr. Ashok Reddy, Executive Officer of the YSR Aarogyasri scheme. The accused demanded ₹1.5 lakh from the doctor to clear the pending bills to the hospital. The complainant had made an online payment to the caller but soon realized that he was cheated.

Aarogyasri Scheme is the scheme of all health initiatives introduced in April 2007 by Dr. Y S Rajasekhar Reddy Government while he was the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh State with a mission to provide quality healthcare for the poor.
The accused has been identified as Velamala Narayana Rao, a resident of the Peddadogam village of Srikakulam district.

The doctor filed who filed the complaint claimed that Rao called him and presented himself as Dr. Ashok Reddy, Executive Officer of the YSR Aarogyasri scheme. To settle pending hospital bills, the accused reportedly asked for Rs. 1.5 lakh from the doctor. After making an online payment to the accused, the doctor realized he had been scammed. After the incident took place, the doctor who owns a private hospital at Rayachoti contacted the police and explained the said matter on February 1, reported The Hindu
