5 years Service, Rs 59 Lakh Penalty- AFMS Bond Policy for NEET PG 2025

Releasing the Information Bulletin and Counselling Scheme for NEET PG and NEET MDS 2025, the Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) has informed that the civilian candidates getting admitted to postgraduate medical and dental courses at AFMS institutes will have to serve as AFMS as Medical Officers for five years after completing the course.

However, if the PG and MDS graduates fail to fulfill the service liability, they will have to pay a bond penalty of Rs 59 lakh and Rs 54 lakh, respectively. Last year, the amount of bond penalty was Rs 57.7 lakh for PG medical courses.

According to the AFMS Information Bulletin, after clearing the NEET PG 2025 and NEET MDS 2025 Exams, candidates interested in pursuing their PG medical and dental courses at the AFMS institutes will have to execute a bond agreement in this regard.

NEET PG 2025 in Single Shift- Doctors Hail Supreme Court Ruling

Since the National Board of Examination (NBE) announced its decision to hold the National Eligibility-Entrance Test Postgraduate (NEET-PG) 2025 examination in two shifts, doctors and medical aspirants have been opposing the move. The doctors filed pleas before the Supreme Court and cited concerns regarding the double-shift examination and the normalisation formula.

Finally, on May 30, the Supreme Court, in a landmark decision, held that holding the NEET PG exam in two shifts would lead to arbitrariness and would not give a level playing field to the candidates.

With this observation, the top court bench comprising Justices Vikram Nath, Sandeep Mehta and NK Anjaria directed the National Board of Examination to make arrangements for holding the NEET PG 2025 exam, scheduled for 15th June 2025, in a single shift. The bench even allowed NBE to apply for an extension of time if the Board failed to find adequate number of exam centres on time.

AIIMS study highlights higher obesity rates among Delhi Private school students

A recent study conducted by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, has found that obesity rates among school-going adolescent children in Delhi are over five times higher in private schools than in public schools.

Noticeably, the prevalence of obesity is higher among boys than girls in both types of schools.

The study, which was funded by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), involved researchers from the endocrinology, cardiac biochemistry, and biostatistics departments of AIIMS.

According to the PTI report, they tracked the health status of 3,888 students aged between six and 19, out of which 1,985 were from public schools and 1,903 from private schools.

The team looked at blood pressure (BP), waist circumference, fasting blood glucose, cholesterol and triglycerides.

Ayurveda-Allopathy Fusion plan at JIPMER sparks Controversy, Doctors urge Govt to reconsider

The launch of India's first integrated MBBS and BAMS course at the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), Puducherry, has sparked outrage among doctors nationwide.

Calling the Union Government's plans to mix different systems of medicine (Ayurveda and Modern Medicine) as "unscientific" and "Unfortunate", the Indian Medical Association (IMA) has demanded that the Government withdraw the "regressive proposal" in the interest of public health.

Medical Dialogues had earlier reported about the Centre's plans of integrating allopathic and Ayurvedic medicine with plans to launch India's first MBBS-BAMS course at JIPMER. Announcing the plan, Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare and AYUSH (Independent Charge), Prataprao Jadhav, said that the course is at the conceptual stage, with a new syllabus in development.
