RG Kar Doctor Rape-Murder Case: SC refuses transfer of trial outside West Bengal
Kolkata: The Supreme Court on Thursday denied a request to transfer the trial of the RG Kar rape and murder case outside West Bengal, stating that the trial court judge had sufficient powers to order a further investigation if deemed necessary based on the evidence.
According to the PTI report, a bench headed by Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud said the trial court judge had sufficient powers to order another investigation upon feeling it necessary after examining the evidence.

NEET UG 2024: SC dismisses Plea Seeking Review of Verdict Refusing to Order Re-Exam
New Delhi: The plea seeking a review of the Supreme Court's August 2 verdict where it had refused to allow a fresh NEET-UG 2024 examination has been dismissed by the apex Court.
While considering the review plea by one Kajal Kumari, the Apex Court bench comprising Chief Justice of India (CJI) D Y Chandrachud and Justices J B Pardiwala and Manoj Misra dismissed it after observing that there was no error in its verdict, PTI has reported.

2-year-old dies of Burn Injuries: 3 doctors, 2 nurses of Private Hospital booked for alleged negligence
Pune: Three doctors and two nurses have been charged with alleged medical negligence after the death of a two-year-old boy during treatment at a private hospital in Chikhli. The charges followed a report from a panel of medical experts, which confirmed negligence in the boy's treatment.
According to the mother's statement, her son was hospitalized due to a cold and cough; however, she later found that his legs below the knee had suffered severe burns from a warmer machine after two doctors had taken samples for a test. These injuries ultimately resulted in his death.

Quack performs fake knee surgery, dupes elderly woman of Rs 7.20 lakh
Mumbai: In a shocking case of medical fraud reported from the city, a fake doctor and his associate have been arrested for allegedly conducting a fake knee surgery on an elderly woman at her home three years ago. They are accused of deceiving her and charging a hefty fee of Rs 7.20 lakh for the fraudulent procedure.
The incident, which allegedly took place in October 2021, came to light when the victim’s family recently read about similar fraudulent cases in a news report in August this year in which several other elderly citizens in the western suburbs became targets of the fraud carried out by the duo.
