Telangana Medical Council directs Medical Colleges to Withhold Plastic Surgery Postings to MDS Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery students
The ongoing conflict between the Medical and Dental Councils of Telangana has escalated as the State Medical Council, in a recent directive, has ordered the medical colleges to immediately withhold Plastic Surgery Postings to MDS Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS) Postgraduate students.
Telangana State Medical Council (TGMC) announced the decision in a letter dated 19.07.2025 addressed to the Director of Medical Education, the Vice-Chancellor/ Registrar of Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS), and all principals of medical colleges in Telangana.
In the letter, the State Medical Council referred to the earlier clarification sought from the NMC to address the discrepancies about practising Aesthetic & Hair Transplantation procedures by MDS-OMFS students.

Himachal to recruit specialist robotic surgeons: CM Sukhu
Shimla: The State Government will soon initiate the recruitment process for specialist robotic surgeons to launch robotic surgery services across Himachal Pradesh, aimed at providing advanced medical treatment within government health institutions, ensuring high-quality healthcare access for the people of the State.
A proposal outlining the recruitment rules for these specialist surgeons will be presented to the State Cabinet for approval shortly. In addition to performing surgeries, the recruited experts will also train other doctors in robotic surgical techniques, helping build a future-ready team of skilled professionals in the State. Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu shared this information during a late evening review meeting of the Health Department held on Friday.

Kolhapur doctor loses Rs 1.1 crore in cyber fraud, 2 arrested
In a shocking case of cyber fraud, a doctor from Kolhapur was duped of Rs 1.1 crore through an online investment scam. After a year-long investigation, the city police arrested two men from Surat, Gujarat, in connection with the fraud.
The victim, Dr. Nitin Prabhakar Deshapande, who lives on Mahadwar Road, was tricked by fraudsters last year. The scammers had created a fake website that looked like it belonged to the global investment firm "Stanley Morgan." Believing the site to be genuine and lured by the promise of high returns, Dr. Deshapande invested a large amount of money.
