Rare Disease Show Episode 3-- In today's show we will cover Thallassemia.
Thalassemia is an inherited blood disorder in which the body does not make enough hemoglobin, a red blood cell protein that carries oxygen to the cells in the body. 2. What are the different types of thalassemia, and how do their symptoms and severity vary?
3. How is thalassemia diagnosed, and what tests are typically conducted to confirm the condition?
4. What are the treatment options available for thalassemia, and how is the choice of treatment determined?
5. Can you discuss the role of blood transfusions in managing thalassemia in children, as well as potential risks and benefits?
