Dupilumab Significantly Improves Hand Eczema and Quality of Life, Finds Study

USA: Researchers have found in a new study that a 16-week course of dupilumab significantly improved hand eczema symptoms and led to meaningful gains in health-related quality of life (HRQoL). The findings highlight the effectiveness of dupilumab as a treatment option for patients with atopic hand eczema.
- Significantly more patients receiving dupilumab achieved a clinically meaningful improvement in QoLHEQ scores from week 4 through week 16 compared with placebo.
- By week 16, 72.4% of patients treated with dupilumab achieved the minimal important improvement in quality of life versus 37.9% in the placebo group.
- At the end of treatment, 66.6% of dupilumab-treated patients reported no or only slight impairment in quality of life compared with 43.3% of those receiving placebo.
- Dupilumab significantly improved overall QoLHEQ scores and produced greater improvements in the Symptoms, Emotions, and Treatment/Prevention domains, while also showing numerically greater benefits in daily functioning.
- Improvements were reflected across individual questionnaire items, with patients reporting less frequent disruption of everyday activities and emotional well-being.
