Poly-L Lactic Acid potentially Safe Treatment for Cellulite on Buttocks and Thighs
USA: A new study has found that Poly-L lactic acid (PLLA-SCA) is an effective and safe method for treating cellulite on the buttocks and thighs in women according to new research published in Dermatologic Surgery. This new research offers a promising solution to the problem.
Cellulite affects more than 90% of women, causing concern and dissatisfaction with the appearance of their skin. The objective of the study was to examine the effectiveness and safety of PLLA-SCA in treating cellulite on the buttocks and thigh areas.
A prospective, single-center, double-blind, split-body clinical experiment including 20 women with mild to moderate skin laxity of the buttocks and/or thighs contributing to mild to moderate cellulite was conducted.
The buttocks and thighs of each patient were randomly assigned to receive injections with up to two vials of PLLA-SCA or an equal volume of bacteriostatic water per treatment location. The individuals were given three treatments, four weeks apart, and were monitored for 330 days.
The study revealed the following clinical findings:
- 1.Treatment of buttocks with PLLA-SCA resulted in a significant reduction in depression depth.
- 2.It also improved the morphological appearance of the skin and the grade of skin laxity.
- 3.Treated thighs showed a reduction in the depth and number of depressions.
- 4.Improvement in overall cellulite appearance was observed for treated thighs.
- 5.No significant procedure side effects were found.
The study’s conclusion highlights the effectiveness and safety of PLLA-SCA for treating cellulite of the buttocks and thighs. This treatment provides a viable option for women who are dissatisfied with the appearance of their skin due to cellulite.
PLLA-SCA is a biocompatible, semi-permanent, synthetic filler that induces neocollagenesis. The treatment is an outpatient procedure that is minimally invasive and does not require any downtime. The PLLA-SCA treatment offers a safe and effective solution to improve the appearance of cellulite, which can improve a person's self-esteem and confidence. added the lead author of the study Dr. Almukhtar Rawaa.
