Contrary to the myth that being a marathon runner prevents one from acquiring diabetes, the condition's development is multifactorial and not solely determined by exercise. Diabetes involves complex factors, primarily concerning insulin production and utilization. Insufficient insulin production by the pancreas or ineffective utilization in the body contributes to diabetes, regardless of an individual's exercise regimen. Genetic predisposition, lifestyle factors, and the intricate mechanisms of insulin regulation also collectively influence the development of diabetes.
