Is Diabetes a Potentially Life-Threatening Condition? - Dr Rahul Gandhi Godisela
Overview
Diabetes, while not an immediate life-threatening condition, demands attention and care due to its potential long-term health complications. This chronic ailment requires management as it can significantly impact one's well-being if left uncontrolled. Although it might not directly lead to imminent danger, the complications arising from diabetes pose severe risks to health.
High blood sugar levels can gradually cause damage to various organs and systems in the body, elevating the risk of heart disease, stroke, kidney failure, vision impairment, nerve damage, and foot problems that might lead to amputation if untreated. Therefore, while diabetes might not cause immediate fatality, its prolonged impact on health and the increased likelihood of severe complications necessitate vigilant management and treatment to avert potential risks and maintain a good quality of life.
Addressing the myth in this video Dr Rahul Gandhi Godsela, Diabetologist from Zoi Hospitals, Hyderabad, Telangana discusses diabetes and its complications while addressing the myth that diabetes is not a life threatening condition.
