Myths related to fasting as a cure for Diabetes - Dr Sumathi Sampath - Video
Overview
Worrying about diabetes is essential because uncontrolled diabetes can lead to serious health complications. Prolonged high blood sugar levels may contribute to heart disease, kidney damage, nerve problems, and vision impairment. Additionally, diabetes management requires a holistic approach, including lifestyle changes, medication, and regular monitoring.
Contrary to the myth that diabetes can be cured by fasting, Diabetes is a chronic condition that involves the body's inability to regulate blood sugar levels effectively. While fasting may temporarily lower blood sugar, it does not address the underlying causes of diabetes.
Effective diabetes management requires a comprehensive approach, including lifestyle modifications, medication (if prescribed), and regular monitoring. Fasting without proper medical guidance can be risky for individuals with diabetes, potentially leading to complications such as hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) or hyperglycemia (high blood sugar).
In this video, Dr Sumathi Sampath, a Physician & Diabetologist from Bangalore, talks about diabetes and its complications while addressing the misconception that Diabetes can be cured by fasting.
