Contrary to the myth that being pre-diabetic isn’t concerning, the HbA1c levels in case of borderline diabetes ranges from from 5.7-6.4% and fasting blood glucose levels between 100-126 mm/dL and shouldn't be overlooked.

While such levels don't classify as diabetes mellitus, they signify higher-than-normal blood sugar levels, serving as a crucial warning sign. Pre-diabetes signals an increased risk of progressing to type 2 diabetes mellitus if left unmanaged.
