Fact Check: Viral Circular Alleging Madhubani Medical College Threatened Nikah for Couples During Ramadan is FALSE

A viral claim circulating on social media alleges that Madhubani Medical College in Bihar issued a circular stating that couples found together during Ramadan would have their “Nikah” arranged immediately. The claim is FALSE.

A circular is being widely circulated on social media, allegedly issued by Madhubani Medical College, claiming that couples found together during the month of Ramadan would have their “Nikah” arranged as a consequence. The circular reads:
"Dear Students,
It is here by to inform that during the Holy month of Ramadan standing together in couple (boy & girl) is strictly prohibited!
If any couple are found standing together, their Nikkah will be arranged immediately.
Please respect the sanctity of the College and avoid unnecessary closeness!
Note: In the event of violation, the couple will be responsible for arranging their own Walima."

The claim is FALSE. Madhubani Medical College & Hospital has officially denied the authenticity of the viral circular through a statement posted on its verified Facebook account, clarifying that no such directive was issued by the institution.
Did Madhubani Medical College Issue a Circular Threatening ‘Nikah’ for Couples During Ramadan?
A circular has been widely shared on social media, purportedly issued by Madhubani Medical College, alleging that couples found together during the holy month of Ramadan would have their “Nikah” arranged as a punitive measure. The notice claims that boys and girls together as a pair is strictly prohibited and warns of immediate action in case of violation.
However, the claim is false. Madhubani Medical College & Hospital has officially clarified on its verified Facebook page on February 27, 2026, that the viral circular is entirely fabricated and not issued by the institution. The post can be accessed here
A similar notice had earlier surfaced in connection with Jamia Millia Islamia and was later found to be false. Several news outlets reported on the issue and debunked the claim. ABP News carried a report titled, ‘Couples To Be Married Off?’ Jamia Millia Islamia Debunks ‘Forced Nikah’ Ramzan Notice', Vishvas News published a fact-check titled, 'Jamia Millia Islamia ‘Ramadan Nikah’ Notice is Fake' and PTI Fact Check also clarified the matter in its report titled, 'Fake notice falsely claims Jamia Millia Islamia banned boys and girls from together during Ramadan, threatened forced ‘nikah'
