Azidocillin
Allopathy
Prescription Required
Investigational Drug
Netherlands, U.K, China
Azidocillin belongs to the pharmacological class of Beta-lactam Antibiotics.
Azidocillin is said to be similar to penicillin. Azidocillin is a semi-synthetic penicillin.
Azidocillin can be used in the treatment of inflammation of the throat, larynx, upper airways, middle ear, sinuses, and palatine tonsils. The substance excreted with urine is 50-70% in the unchanged form. It binds to the blood plasma proteins which is about 84%, and its half-life period is 30 min. The side effects are found to be similar to those of benzylpenicillin but occur less frequently.
Azidocillin belongs to the pharmacological class of Beta-lactam Antibiotics.
Azidocillin is said to be similar to penicillin. Azidocillin is a semi-synthetic penicillin.
Azidocillin is found to bind and inactivate the penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) which are located on the inner membrane of the bacterial cell wall. The inactivation of penicillin-binding proteins interferes with the cross-linkage of peptidoglycan chains which is necessary for bacterial cell wall strength as well as rigidity. This interrupts bacterial cell wall synthesis and hence results in the weakening of bacterial cell walls, which eventually causes cell lysis.
