Calamine is an anti inflammatory ,anti pruritic belonging to pharmacology class of Topical dermatological.
Calamine can be used in the treatment of Skin irritation.
The common side effects associated with Calamine include Blister formation, crusting, itching, oozing, reddening, or scaling of skin.
Calamine is available in the form of Lotion, Suspension.
The molecule is available in India, USA, Japan, Germany.
Calamine is available in Lotion, Suspension.
Calamine can be used in the treatment of Skin irritation.
Shake well prior to use. Apply to clean, Dry skin; Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes; Do not use on open wounds or burns.
Calamine is a mild astringent with soothing, protective, and weak antiseptic properties. It provides physical barrier to prevent skin irritation and help heal damaged skin. It also reflects UV radiation and used as a physical sunscreen.
Calamine is approved for use in the following clinical indications
Skin irritation: Employed primarily as an astringent, Protectant, and soothing agent for conditions such as poison ivy, Poison oak, Poison sumac, Sunburn, Insect bites, or Minor skin irritations.
Skin irritation: Topical: Apply to affected area as often as needed (Calamine–containing products) or up to 3 to 4 times daily.

- Dose Adjustment in Pediatric Patient:
Skin irritation: Note: Approved ages in pediatric patients may vary among products, consult product specific labeling.
Calamine/Calamine products: Infants ≥6 months, Children, and Adolescents: Topical: Apply to affected area as often as needed; other calamine products are used up to 3 to 4 times daily
Calamine/pramoxine products: Children ≥2 years and Adolescents: Topical: Apply to affected area up to 3 to 4 times daily.
Calamine may be contraindicated in the following conditions:
Hypersensitivity
Other warnings/precautions:
• Self-medication (OTC use): For external use only; avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes. Discontinue use and contact healthcare provider if needed for >7 days or if condition worsens.
Alcohol Warning
There is no sufficient scientific evidence traceable regarding use and safety of Calamine in concurrent use with alcohol.
Breast Feeding Warning
It is not known if Calamine is present in breast milk.
