Antibiotic, Propicillin belongs to the pharmacological class of Beta-lactam Antibiotics.
Propicillin is said to have antibacterial action.
Propicillin belongs to the pharmacological class of Beta-lactam Antibiotics.
Propicillin binds to and inhibits penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) which are located inside the bacterial cell wall. Propicillin inhibits the third and last stage of bacterial cell wall synthesis. Hence , the cell lysis is then mediated by the bacterial cell wall autolytic enzymes such as autolysins.
