Tacalcitol is an Antipsoriatics belonging to pharmacology class of Vitamin D Analog.
Tacalcitol can be used in the treatment of Plaque psoriasis.
Tacalcitol is 0.5% absorbed through psoriatic skin and get distributed Completely bound to plasma proteins and get excreted Mainly via urine.
The common side effects associated with Tacalcitol include Venous thrombosis, MI, pseudotumor cerebri/benign intracranial hypertension (children), hypercholesterolemia or hypertriglyceridemia (reversible), hypercalcemia, psychiatric disorders (e.g. depression, anxiety, mood alterations), elevated LFT.
Tacalcitol is available in the form of Cream and ointment.
The molecule is available in India, USA, Japan, Germany.
Tacalcitol, a synthetic vitamin D3 derivative, is an antipsoriatic agent. It binds to vitamin D receptors to induce differentiation and inhibits hyper-proliferation of keratinocytes.
Tacalcitol is available in Cream and ointment.
Administer with food, preferably with the main meal of the day.
Tacalcitol reduces excessive cell turnover in the epidermis by interacting with vitamin D receptors on keratinocytes.
Tacalcitol is approved for use in the following clinical indications:
Plaque psoriasis
Plaque psoriasis
Adult: As 4 mcg/g ointment or lotion: Apply sparingly onto affected area(s) once daily, preferably at bedtime. Max dose: 10 g ointment or 10 mL daily; 280 mcg per week (e.g. 30 mL lotion + 40 g ointment).

Tacalcitol may be contraindicated in the following conditions:
Hypersensitivity.
Alcohol Warning
There is no sufficient scientific evidence traceable regarding use and safety of Tacalcitol in concurrent use with alcohol.

May increase the risk of hypercalcemia with thiazide diuretics and vitamin D preparations. Increased therapeutic effect and shorten UV radiation period.
