Talampicillin belongs to the pharmacological class of Beta-lactam Antibiotics.
Talampicillin is a prodrug of ampicillin, which is rapidly hydrolyzed into ampicillin after administration.
Talampicillin is well absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract resulting in a greater bioavailability of ampicillin than can be achieved with equivalent doses of ampicillin.
Talampicillin belongs to the pharmacological class of Beta-lactam Antibiotics.
Talampicillin is a prodrug of ampicillin, which is rapidly hydrolyzed into ampicillin after administration.
Following oral administration, talampicillin is found to be rapidly absorbed and hydrolyzed by tissue esterases in the intestinal wall to release into the circulation ampicillin and the ester moiety, mainly 2-hydroxymethyl-benzoic acid. No unchanged talampicillin was detectable in the peripheral blood.
