New Delhi: Through a recent notice, the Postgraduate Medical Education Board (PGMEB) of the National Medical Commission (NMC) has asked the medical colleges, whose applications for recognition/renewal of recognition of PG medical qualifications during the year 2022 are pending, to submit fresh applications for an increase of PG medical seats for the academic session 2024-2025.
Such a direction has been issued by the Apex Medical Commission as the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) has invited applications for increase of seats in PG medical courses through a recent notice issued on August 16, 2023.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that issuing the notice on August 16, NMC Medical Assessment and Rating Board invited applications for starting new Post Graduate Broad and Super Specialty courses, or increase of MD/MS, DM/MCh seats for the academic year 2024-2025.
The Commission asked the medical institutes to send the applications to the NMC Board by September 15, 2023, along with the documents including- Valid Consent of Affiliation (CoA) in the prescribed proforma, details of hospital and department, revised fees along with UTR number.
Referring to last year's applications from the medical colleges, NMC PG Board mentioned in the public notice issued today i.e. August 23, 2023, "Post Graduate Medical Education Board (PGMEB) has already processed most of the applications from medical colleges/institutes, which were due for recognition/renewal of recognition of post-graduate medical qualifications during the year 2022. Some of the applications are under process and are likely to be completed soon by the Post-Graduate Medical Education Board."
NMC clarified that the pending applications are being processed and asked medical colleges to submit fresh applications for increase of PG medical seats. "Pending processing of such applications, the medical colleges/institutes may submit fresh applications for increase of seats in various post-graduate courses being run by them for admission in the Academic Session 2024-25 since Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) has called applications for increase of seats in post-graduate courses vide, Public Notice No.NMO/MARB/2024-2025/047842 dated 16.08.2023 (available on NMC website)," stated the letter issued by the President of PGMEB, Dr. Vijay Oza.
