NMC calls on medical colleges' faculty for participation in National Patient Safety Conference
New Delhi: The National Medical Commission (NMC) has called upon medical colleges across India to encourage their faculty members and healthcare professionals to participate in the upcoming National Patient Safety Conference.
The conference is scheduled to be held on September 11 and 12, 2026, at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Nagpur, Maharashtra.
In a public notice issued by the NMC in this regard, the Commission informed that the two-day conference is being organised by the National Patient Safety Secretariat (NPSS), Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), in collaboration with AIIMS Nagpur.
The conference is being organised in observance of World Patient Safety Day 2026 and is expected to bring together medical educators, healthcare professionals, policymakers and other stakeholders to discuss key issues concerning patient safety and the quality of healthcare.
According to the NMC, the scientific deliberations and knowledge-sharing sessions planned during the conference are expected to particularly benefit faculty members working at medical colleges. This includes faculty from government and private medical colleges, as well as those working in both established and newly established institutions.
The sessions are expected to help medical college faculty strengthen patient-care Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), clinical protocols and best practices. The Commission noted that such efforts could contribute towards improving patient safety as well as overall healthcare outcomes.
Highlighting the importance of wider participation, the NMC has asked medical colleges to disseminate information about the conference among their faculty members and facilitate their participation in the two-day event.
Further, all medical colleges under the purview of NMC have been encouraged to nominate faculty members and other relevant healthcare professionals to attend the conference and benefit from its deliberations.
The public notice has been issued under the signature of Dr Raghav Langer, Secretary, National Medical Commission, and addressed to the Deans and Principals of all medical colleges and institutions.
