NMC clears 125 more PG medical seats after appeals, check details

New Delhi: Based on the decision taken by the First Appeal Committee, the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) of the National Medical Commission (NMC) has approved 125 additional Postgraduate medical seats across 22 medical colleges.
Announcing this and sharing a list of newly approved additional PG Medical seats, MARB, in a notice dated 13.01.2026 mentioned, "In reference to the appeals preferred by Medical Colleges under Section 28(5) of the NMC Act, 2019 against the decisions of the MARB for the seats granted during Academic Year 2025–26, the matter was examined by the First Appeal Committee. The list of seats granted by the First Appeal Committee is attached herewith for the information of all stakeholders...The LOPs for these sanctioned PG seats for AY 2025-26 will be issued shortly. The counselling authorities need not wait for the LOPs from institutions to include them in the counselling process. This list uploaded on the website shall be considered as valid document for counselling process."
Speciality-wise, these additional 125 PG medical seats include 12 seats in MD Anaesthesiology, 13 seats in MD Dermatology Venereology & Leprosy, 7 seats in MD Emergency Medicine, 13 seats in MD General Medicine, 19 seats in MD Paediatrics, 7 seats in MD Psychiatry, 9 seats in MD Radio Diagnosis, 5 seats in MD Respiratory Medicine, 2 seats in MD Microbiology, 1 seat in MD Pathology, 2 seats in MD Pharmacology, 6 seats MS General Surgery, 15 seats MS Obstetrics & Gynecology, 4 seats in MS Ophthalmology, 6 seats in MS Orthopaedics, and 4 seats in MS Otorhinolaryngology.

Referring to MARB's notice, NMC Secretary Dr. Raghav Langer wrote to the Director/Principal/Dean of all medical colleges/institutions under NMC and mentioned, "Kind reference is invited to the Medical Assessment & Rating Board (MARB)’ Public Notice of even number dated 13-01-2026 (copy enclosed) on the subject mentioned above being self-explanatory inter-alia duly enclosing the list of seats granted by the First Appeal Committee which shall be considered as valid document for counseling process...Accordingly, all concerned are requested to take note of the same for necessary action on their part."
