NMC Received Over 2,500 Grievances in Two Years: Minister Informs Rajya Sabha

New Delhi: The National Medical Commission (NMC) has received a total of 2,572 grievances through its online grievance portal since 2025, the MOS in Ministry of Health and Family Welfare informed the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.
Shri Anupriya Patel, the Minister of State for Health was responding to question raised by MP Dr M. Thambidurai, who asked whether National Medical Commission (NMC) currently has an independent grievance redressal or Ombudsman mechanism for medical institutions, faculty, students and resident doctors and the total number of grievances received in the last two years, category-wise (students, faculty, institutions, etc.);
The minsiter informed in response that According to the National Medical Commission (NMC), it has established a dedicated web-based portal for students and other stakeholders to submit grievances, Patel said in a written reply.

"During the last two years, a total of 2,572 grievances have been received through the said mechanism, including 1,829 grievances in the year 2025 and 743 grievances in the year 2026," Patel said.
The NMC follows timelines for redressal of grievances in parity with the timelines prescribed under the Centralized Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring System (CPGRAMS).
The Union health ministry, in coordination with the NMC continuously reviews the grievance redressal mechanism with a view to improve efficiency, transparency and accountability. Steps are taken from time to time to streamline the process and strengthen the system for timely disposal of grievances, she added.
