New Delhi- The National Medical Commission (NMC) has called upon all medical colleges and institutions under its purview to actively support the implementation of the newly launched 'Khelo Bharat Niti 2025', the country's latest national sports policy announced by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
The Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, announced the New National Sports Policy 'Khelo Bharat Niti-2025' on 01st July, 2025. On this, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued a public notice and stressed that medical institutions should extend full cooperation in translating the policy into practice “in its true letter and spirit.”
As per the public notice, 'Khelo Bharat Niti - 2025' has been conceptualised to serve as a model policy for all and advocates for a whole-of-government approach for the integration of sports promotion into the activities, schemes, and programs of all Ministries/Departments to achieve a holistic impact. This new policy is built upon five key pillars that aim to transform India’s sports landscape.
Below are the five detailed pillars-
2 Sports for Economic Development emphasises leveraging sports to boost industries such as tourism, manufacturing and sports technology.
3 Sports for Social Development promotes inclusivity, health and education through sports, fostering societal cohesion.
4 Sports -A People’s Movement seeks to engage communities in physical activities, making sports a cultural cornerstone.
5 This aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, integrating sports with education to nurture holistic development and life skills in students, youths, promoting both academic and athletic excellence.
Therefore, through the public notice, NMC has 'requested all the Medical Colleges / Institutions under the administrative domain of NMC to extend their support and cooperation in implementing this new policy in its true letter and spirit.'
