Upload Faculty Lists, Update Monthly! NMC gives deadline to Medical Colleges, warns of action

New Delhi: Through a recent notice, the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) of the National Medical Commission (NMC) has directed all medical colleges to upload the faculty list by 31st July 2024.

The Commission has further asked the medical institutes to update the faculty list every month. It specified that the deadline for such updating shall be the last day of every month.

Issuing a notice on 23/07/2024, NMC mentioned that all the medical colleges must the college website and specify the list of faculties in each department. Such lists must have the faculties' names, their photos, educational qualifications, latest designations, and registration numbers issued by the respective State Medical Council.

The directions issued by NMC in this regard are as follows:

"All Medical Institutions must update the college website as regard the faculty in each department as follows:

a. The list of faculty must be available separately under each Department (the medical superintendent, Principal, Dean, if are from any of the Departments may also be indicated here);

b. The list must have name of the faculty members, his/her recent Photo, educational qualification, latest designation and Registration number issued by the respective State Medical Council;

c. The names reflected in the list must be onboard in the AEBAS system of the college;

d. The faculty list in the website must be uploaded latest by 31 st July, 2024. Any incorrect, incomplete and/or late submission of information shall attract appropriate action against the medical institutions/medical colleges concerned; and

e. The list will be updated every month. The deadline for such updating shall be the last day of every month."

This direction comes from the Commission, which recently issued a warning to all faculty members against instances of attendance impersonation in the Aadhaar Enabled Attendance System (AEBAS) using silicon/fake fingerprints.

NMC's directions come in the wake of a recent letter sent by an Assistant Professor in a Raipur-based medical college, who raised an alarm before the Commission alleging that their institute is recording 90% of daily attendance using silicon thumb impressions.

Writing to the Chairman of the Top Medical Commission, the assistant professor raised alarming allegations. He claimed that after employing the doctors on a part-time basis, the college was showing them as full-time faculty members to NMC without paying them the rightful salaries.

Further, the doctor alleged that the college was not relieving them from the NMC AEBAS system and using their thumb impressions as mold, recording their attendance on the biometric attendance system.
