"Unaccounted tax receipts and tampering/fudging of record books and accounts are some of the things we are investigating," an I-T official told HT.
During the raids no patients or their relatives were allowed to enter the hospital, the Income-tax department began their raid from the accounts department and later seized the files and computer hard disk to examine.
There were few doctors who could not provide the documents. In Meerut, a doctor, who is a prominent neurologist in the area was unable to produce the books of accounts which were needed, implying that there are some receipts which he hasn't disclosed. Still, he was given an opportunity to produce the books of accounts. Many locker keys have also been found at his house, a source in the Income Tax department informed TOI.
The source further informed that during the course of the search at the GS medical college and hospital in Pilakhwa, which is run under Jaipal Singh Sharma Trust, the people concerned were unable to produce the books of accounts.
