The company was established as a partnership firm following the agreement between two companies Bayer (South East Asia) Private Limited and Cadila Healthcare Limited to form a Joint Venture in the year 2011. Bayer was founded in the year 1863 by Friedrich Bayer and Johann Friedrich Weskott under the name ‘Friedr. Bayer et comp.’ and has been a significant company in the pharmaceutical business with its strong presence in the areas of health care, agriculture and nutrition. Cadila Healthcare Limited was founded by Ramanbhai Patel and Indravardan Modi in 1951-52 in Ahmedabad and caters to a wide range of therapeutic areas. The company is now united with the Zydus Group and has been named as Zydus Lifesciences Ltd with its headquarters in Ahmedabad. Bayer Zydus Pharma Private Limited is involved in the marketing of pharmaceuticals in the country. The company was incorporated on the 7th of February in the year 2011. In the year 2021, both the companies in partnership have announced that they will continue to work together as per the agreement and will stretch the Joint Venture for three more years.

The company specializes in the therapy areas of cardiovascular diseases, anti-allergy, agri-science, diabetes, women’s health, hematology, chronic kidney disease, hormones, dermatology, general health, nutritionals, pain management, ophthalmology and oncology.

On the other hand, Cadila Healthcare Limited has its manufacturing units at Ankleshwar in Gujarat, Dholka in Gujarat and Samba in Jammu. All the units of the company work according to international standards and have received approval from major international regulatory bodies. While the Bayer Group has an international presence in North America, South America, Europe and Africa among others, Zydus Cadila is spread across America, Japan, Asia, Africa and Commonwealth of Independent States.
