1977
Glenmark is an Indian multinational pharmaceutical company with its headquarters in Mumbai. The company was founded by Gracias Saldanha in the year 1977. The company was named after his sons Glenn Saldanha, CEO, Glenmark Pharmaceuticals, and Mark Saldanha, Founder, CEO, Marksans Pharma. It was incorporated on November 18, in the year 1977. When the company was taken over by Glenn Saldanha in 1998, it was a drug producing company that focused mainly on India. The company ventured into the therapeutic area of dermatology with the launch of their product called Candid Cream in the year 1979. To overcome problems of finance that came along with innovation, the company adopted the strategy of partnership with big pharmaceutical companies and out-licensing.
