Ipca Laboratories Limited is an Indian multinational pharmaceutical company with its headquarters in Mumbai, India. It was co-founded in the year 1949 by K.B. Mehla and Dr. N.S. Tibrawala and was incorporated in 1949 as 'The Indian Pharmaceutical Combine Association Limited’. The company had emerged due to promotion by a few medical professionals and businessmen including K.B. Mehla and Dr. N.S. Tibrawala and was involved in the production of tablets, capsules, vials and ampoules.The company changed its name to ‘Ipca Laboratories Limited' in the year 1964 and to ‘Ipca Laboratories Private Limited' in the year 1966. However, it went back to its old name ‘Ipca Laboratories Limited' in 1988. It was made into a Public Limited Company on 24th March in the year 1993. The company established its first manufacturing facility at Athal in Silvassa for the production of its pharmaceuticals. In 1975, the management of the company was in the hands of Amitabh Bachchan, Ajitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, M.R. Chandurkar and P.C. Godha. They sold their holdings later in 1997.
