Medley Pharmaceuticals Ltd. is an Indian multinational company with its headquarters in Mumbai. It was founded by Sami Khatib in the year 1969. The company was incorporated in the year 1975. Khatib was the son of a landowner and the youngest child of his father. In order to pursue his education, he travelled from his native land Kalamb, in Maharashtra to several places including the city of Mumbai at a very young age. After the completion of his studies, he decided to take up the pharmaceutical business. Thereafter, in the year 1969, Khatib established his company Medley Laboratories. However this was a difficult step for Khatib because of the cut-throat competition in the field and lack of financial resources. However this could not dampen his spirit and he struggled a lot to establish his company. Khatib had to borrow an amount of 200,000 rupees as loan from The Maharashtra State Finance Corporation for funding his company. His wife stood by him throughout this journey and within a few years Medley Laboratories became a significant name in the pharmaceutical industry. Khatib received the Vijay Ratna award in the year 1991. His work in philanthropy is notable and his trust called The Sinkhai Foundation does charity for the poor and disadvantaged sections of the society. The management of the company was handed over to Suhel, Sarosh and Sahir after the demise of Sami Khatib.

The company specializes in the areas of antibiotics, anti-infective, anti-allergy, anti-ulcer, gastroenterology, cardiovascular disorders, diabetology, gynecology and orthopedics.

The company established its first manufacturing facility in the year 1976 in Aurangabad. It has five manufacturing units in Daman, one in Jammu and in Tarapur. Medley Pharmaceuticals has a research facility in Daman as well. All the manufacturing facilities of the company have received approval by major international regulatory bodies. The company has an international presence in a number of countries like UK, USA, Brazil and South Africa and its manufactured products are supplied to the markets of countries like South East Asia, Africa, Middle East, Russia and CIS.
