Reckitt Benckiser Group plc is an Anglo-Dutch multinational consumer goods and pharmaceutical company with its headquarters in Slough, England. The company was founded as the result of a merger that occurred in the year 1999 between two companies Reckitt & Colman plc and Benckiser N.V. The former was a British company that was founded under the name Reckitt & Sons by Isaac Reckitt in the year 1840 in England. It rented a mill and was involved in the production of household products, the first one being starch. The business was taken over by his sons post his demise. The company entered into a merger in the year 1938 with J. & J. Colman which was an English company in the food industry. Together, they formed Reckitt & Colman Ltd. following which they made several acquisitions and ultimately sold the food business of Colman in the year 1995. On the other hand, the latter was a Dutch company started in the year 1823 at Pforzheim in Germany and its foundations were laid by Johann Benckiser who was involved in the trade of chemicals. The business was joined by a chemist named Ludwig Reimann who took over the business after the death of Benckiser in 1851. The two companies joined hands and gave birth to what was known as Reckitt Benckiser Group plc in the month of December in the year 1999. The company also had a wholly owned subsidiary called Reckitt Benckiser Pharmaceuticals which was demerged later.

It offers in the areas of personal care, household, specialty products, nutrition, toiletry, health care mineral and vitamin supplements, pain relief and pest control.
