TTK Healthcare Limited is an Indian pharmaceutical company with its headquarters in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. The company was founded by Tiruvellore Thattai Krishnamachari in the year 1928. TTK Healthcare Limited was incorporated on the 21st of May in the year 1958. The company aims to manufacture quality healthcare products at reasonable prices. The founder Krishnamachari who is also known by the abbreviation of his name as TTK, was pursuing law when he decided to give it up and instead enter the pharmaceutical industry. He started working with A. R. Doraisami Iyengar, who was the owner of a consumer goods company based in Chennai. The company was under the Lever Brothers at that time and therefore it was given the Levers Brothers agency after the death of A. R. Doraisami Iyengar in the year 1928. It was at this time that Krishnamachari decided to set up TT Krishnamachari & Co. under him in order to take up the responsibility of the company. The company used to import Woodward’s Gripe water through its healthcare arm called TTK Healthcare, which came to exist in the year 1953 and was set up to represent global companies based in Germany, Switzerland and Italy. Gradually it began manufacturing the foriegn products in the year 1959. Domestic products also made their way into the company. Krishnamachari is the first Commerce and Industry minister of the country. TTK Healthcare Limited is involved in the business of FMCG, medicine, and Food Industry.
