FeFCon 2024: 7th Annual Conference of Fever Foundation on Fever Management & Rational Antibiotic Use - Video
Overview
The 7th Annual Conference of the Fever Foundation, FeFCon 2024, concluded with great success in Bangalore recently bringing together approx 75,000 physicians from across India in a hybrid format.
Inaugurated by Padma Shri Dr. C.N. Manjunath, Hon'ble Member of Parliament, India, and Former Director of the Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research, the event witnessed the presence of esteemed dignitaries, including Prof. Dr. G. Narsimlu, President of the Association of Physicians of India (API); Dr. A. Muruganathan from the Physician Research Foundation (API); Dr. T.S. Ravindra, Head of Department at Mallige Hospital, Bangalore; Dr. M Sudarshan, Ex-Director - KIMS, Dr. Jagdish Chinnappa, Cluster Head - Paediatrics, Manipal Hospital Group and senior leaders from Micro Labs limited.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. CN Manjunath emphasized the importance of this conference, stating that it addresses the pressing need for newer treatment modalities and comprehensive patient care. He noted, “Fever, while seemingly straightforward to diagnose, can be incredibly complex, requiring careful interpretation of results. Physicians must ensure their treatment decisions, guided by clinical evaluation, are not more harmful than the disease itself." Talking about the use of antibiotics, Dr. Manjunath said, “A proper antibiotic policy is essential in hospitals, and knee-jerk responses to treating fever must be avoided to ensure safe and effective care.
The conference featured engaging technical sessions and expert talks focusing on fever management in adults and children. The conference featured discussions on precision fever management, advancements in rheumatology, AI-driven research in fever care, and vaccination-related fevers in children.
Other key topics included addressing fever phobia among patients, managing fevers in pediatric ICUs, and dispelling common misconceptions about fever.
The event also saw a quiz competition in both medicine and pediatric domains, where the winners bagged Rs 50,000 each, and the runners got Rs 30,000 as prize money.
While In the Pediatric Hall, Dr. Vijaya Rughe from Indira Gandhi Government Medical College, Nagpur, emerged victorious. While In the Medicine Hall, Dr. Nilanjan from RIMS Ranchi claimed the first prize.
The conference also saw an exciting Poster Competition. In the Pediatric Hall, Dr. Baishnabi Rath from Lady Hardinge Medical College, New Delhi, won the Case Study category, and Dr. Deepika received top honors in the Original Research Paper category. In the Internal Medicine Hall, Dr. Lakshya Agarwal from Lady Hardinge Medical College, New Delhi, secured first place.
