Inflammatory myocardial disease as symptom of fulminant heart failure
Overview
Despite several measures taken and newer techniques are being innovated management of heart failure is a hectic burden. Inflammatory myocardial disease has been defined by the World Health Organization (WHO) as myocarditis with cardiac dysfunction. Myocarditis is an important consideration in the differential diagnosis of unexplained heart failure, and endomyocardial biopsy might be the key.
The review in Cardiovascular Pathology reports heart failure with CD68 predominant inflammation "histiocytic" myocardial inflammatory disease, occurs with variable clinical presentation and outcome; may be primary or secondary. In some cases of "histiocytic" myocardial inflammatory disease, show features suggestive of antibody and/or complement mediated myocardial injury, and "histiocytic" myocardial inflammatory disease, is a diagnosis distinct from those in classification systems currently in use.
