Lower risk of heart attacks, when treated by CABG - Video
Overview
Cardiac diseases are leading cause of global death and it management are very crucial. Doctors are often left with choice of a treatment in treating cardiac diseases, though all are said to be effective, choosing in them is more challenging.
Both coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) and percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) with drug-eluting stents are popularly known ways of treatment disease, there is no clarity on whether one method is more effective than the other in patients with low or intermediate coronary anatomical complexity.
No significant difference in 5-year all-cause death between patients treated with percutaneous coronary intervention versus coronary artery bypass grafting for left main coronary artery disease. However, a Bayesian approach suggested a probable minor difference (more likely than not <0·2% per year) favoring coronary artery bypass grafting. Also, repeat revascularization and myocardial infarction rates were seen to be more significantly common in patients who had undergone percutaneous coronary intervention reports the Lancet Journal.
