Gujarat University to establish new medical college with 100 MBBS seats
In a major development for future MBBS admissions in the state, the Gujarat University (GU) has recently made an announcement regarding the establishment of a new medical college and a 300-bed hospital. This will enhance the state's healthcare facilities and provide modern medical education on the lines of institutions like NHL Medical College.
A joint meeting of GU's Board of Management and Executive Council was conducted recently, wherein the decision was made during the meeting.
The new medical college is expected to be set up at the GMDC grounds or some other location in western Ahmedabad. The proposed medical college will include an outpatient department and a helipad for air ambulance services in future. In addition, GU plans to run the new medical college following the same operational model used by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation for its medical facility.
