Delhi Medical Council Bars 2 Fortis Shalimar Bagh Doctors from Practising as Super Specialists
The Delhi Medical Council (DMC) has recently ordered two doctors at Fortis Hospital at Shalimar Bagh to refrain from claiming the status of neonatologists and practising as super-specialists.
Writing to the Medical Superintendent of the hospital, the medical council issued this direction after noting that as per the information available with the Council, these two doctors did not have the required medical qualification to be called a specialists.
Back in 2019, these two doctors were accused of medical negligence- allegedly leading to unabated Cerebral Palsy and Epilepsy along with "West Syndrome" in a child. Back then, the child's parents had alleged that the treating doctors did not have the required qualifications to practice as super-specialists.
Now, the medical council has informed that as per the information available with it, Dr. Akhilesh Singh is registered with the Delhi Medical Council holding only an MBBS qualification, and the other doctor, Dr. Vivek Jain, is registered with the Council holding MBBS and MRCP qualifications.

NMC Issues Show-Cause Notices to Pune GMCs over Infrastructure Gaps, Staff Shortages
Almost all the government medical colleges in Pune have been issued show-cause notices by the National Medical Commission (NMC) over vacancies of professors, staff, and insufficient infrastructure.
Issuing the show-cause notices, the Apex Medical Education Regulatory Body, NMC, has asked the colleges to submit a reply within seven days from receiving the notices.
If the government medical colleges fail to submit the reply within the deadline, they may have to pay penalties of Rs 1 crore per deficiency, Pune Mirror has reported. However, the Commission may also cancel the permission granted to the GMCs if they do not pay the penalty amount. Meanwhile, experts have opined that it was a routine exercise by the Commission.

Latur doctor booked for allegedly telling colleague to kill COVID patient in viral audio clip
An audio clip that recently went viral on social media allegedly captures a senior doctor of a government hospital in Maharashtra's Latur district instructing a colleague to ''kill'' a COVID-19 patient during the pandemic in 2021.
