Rare presentations of PCOS after onset of signs and symptoms- Understanding with Dr. Duru Shah - Video
Overview
In this video, Medical Dialogues team interacted with Dr. Duru Shah who has completed her MD in Obstetrics & Gynaecology, who provided us with insights into understanding and treating a very common endocrine disorder known as Polycystic Ovary syndrome, known to all of us as PCOS.
With over four decades of experience in the field of obstetrics and gynaecology, Dr. Shah has made significant contributions to the medical community and is widely recognized for her exceptional work. She is the founder and president of the PCOS Society and a promoter of women's health and adolescent health in India. She has authored five books and published numerous research articles on topics related to women's health, adolescent health, and infertility.
In this video, she talks about how while being in a digital world and most women reading about the signs and symptoms of PCOS, what are rare presentations of PCOS that may take a primary care physician by surprise.
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a common endocrinopathy that is highly prevalent in women of Indian ethnicity. Clinical practice guidelines do not adequately consider ethnic–cultural differences in the diagnosis and care of women with PCOS. Research indicates that women with PCOS experience lifelong metabolic, reproductive, and psychological consequences.
