SC questions WB govt: 'Why progress on safety measures so tardy?' seeks National Task Force report
The Supreme Court, while considering the suo-motu matter regarding the rape and murder of a PG trainee doctor at Kolkata-based RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, criticised the West Bengal Government over its "tardiness" in installing CCTVs, and building toilets to ensure the safety of resident doctors at their workplace.
Taking note of the submission of the West Bengal Government's counsel that the works would be completed by 31st October, the Apex Court bench comprising the Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra observed, "...the status report submitted by WB indicates the ongoing work ....thought the state has indicated that remaining work will be completed by 31st October, but state has assured that it will make all endeavours to complete the work by 15th October 2024."

Supreme Court to hear NEET PG exam case on October 4
The Supreme Court will hear the plea alleging discrepancies and last-minute changes in the National Eligibility-and-Entrance Test Postgraduate (NEET-PG) Examination 2024 on Friday i.e. October 4, 2024.
Even though the plea was listed for today, it was deferred to Friday as no one appeared on behalf of the Union Government, Times Now has reported.

Haryana ACB arrests Deputy CEO of Ayushman Bharat Scheme and seizes ₹1 crore
A team from the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has recovered Rs. 1.02 crore from the residence of the Deputy CEO of the Ayushman Bharat Scheme in the city. The doctor was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 5 lakh.
The doctor was presented before a local court, and the judge ordered a four-day police remand for further investigation.

Doctor at UP hospital forgets surgical needle inside woman's head, investigation underway
A doctor at a Community Health Centre (CHC) in Uttar Pradesh's Hapur has allegedly left a surgical needle inside the head of a 22-year-old woman while stitching her wound. After her family reported the issue, the chief medical officer of Hapur, formed a two-member team on Monday to investigate the matter.
The incident took place after the doctor treated a wound sustained by the woman identified as Sitara, following a dispute with her neighbours.

Motilal Nehru Medical College MS orthopaedics medico allegedly commits suicide, 3 doctors booked
Suffering from Depression, a first-year postgraduate student of Orthopaedics at SRN Hospital affiliated with Motilal Nehru Medical College allegedly committed suicide by injecting himself with a poisonous substance inside his car in the parking area of the hospital.
Based on the complaint of the family members who suspect foul play behind his death, the police registered an FIR against three doctors of Swaroop Rani Nehru (SRN) Hospital under Section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for their alleged involvement in the case.
