MBBS doctor succumbs to venomous snakebite shortly after receiving degree at convocation ceremony
In an unfortunate incident, a 21-year-old young doctor met an untimely demise due to a venomous snakebite on the outskirts of Tumkur shortly after receiving his MBBS degree at the convocation ceremony held on Wednesday.
His dream of becoming a practicing doctor shattered after he met with this unfortunate incident while returning from the convocation ceremony. While walking near a parking lot close to his room at around 11 pm, he was bitten by a venomous snake which put his life to an end.

HIV positive cases on rise Haryana, claims Fortis study
Haryana has been seeing an upsurge in HIV positive cases for the last 2 years, with nearly 102 new cases reported across various regions including Gurugram, Hissar, Palwal, Pataudi, Narnaul, and Rohtak, claimed a study by Fortis Memorial Research Institute on Thursday.
The study released ahead of World AIDS Day, observed every year on December 1, revealed that the most affected demographic is the youth, aged 22-43 years, showing a preponderance of 56 per cent males and 40 per cent females, including some children.

18 ICU patient deaths due to lack of oxygen: Hospital held guilty of administrative negligence, slapped Rs 20 lakh compensation
More than seven years after 18 ICU patients of MIOT Hospital died due to lack of oxygen, the Tamil Nadu State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission held the hospital liable for administrative negligence.
The complaint alleged that the hospital failed to anticipate and manage flooding during the rainy season even though the government agencies warned about the same. This resulted in a power outage and life support systems such as ventilators in the Medical ICU located in the basement, failed during the flood. Among the 18 patients who died in the incident, the husband of the complainant was also one.

Pfizer sued by Texas over COVID vaccine claims
Pfizer has been sued by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, who accused the drugmaker of misrepresenting the efficacy of its widely-used COVID-19 vaccine.
In a complaint filed in a Lubbock County state court, Paxton said it was misleading for Pfizer to claim its vaccine was 95% effective because it offered a "relative risk reduction" for people to who took it.
Paxton said the claim was based on only two months of clinical trial data, and vaccine recipients' "absolute risk reduction" showed that the vaccine was just 0.85% effective.
