Vadodara: Aiming to promote indigenous innovations in medical devices and medicines, the National Medical Commission (NMC), in collaboration with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), will soon introduce a PhD programme and bolster clinical research.
The announcement in this regard was made by the Chairman of the Apex Medical Commission, Dr. Abhijat Sheth, at the 3rd convocation of Bhaikaka University in Karamsad, Anand, on Sunday.

Ganesh Baraiya, 3-feet-tall doctor, wins legal battle, secures first medical officer post
Ahmedabad: Dr. Ganesh Baraiya, who stands three feet tall and weighs 20 kilograms, is just 25 years old and has scripted an extraordinary milestone after a long legal struggle that reached the Supreme Court, securing his first appointment as a medical officer.
He will report for duty on Thursday, in his first assignment as a medical officer, bringing to a close an inspiring and hard-fought journey. Born with dwarfism and assessed with a 72 per cent locomotor disability, Baraiya’s entry into active government service marks a significant personal triumph over physical limitations and systemic barriers. Baraiya aspires to specialize in paediatrics, dermatology, or radiology, reports The Times of India.

Maharashtra Medical Council warns of rising fake dermatologists, calls for expert anti-quackery panel
Pune: Taking note of the rising number of quacks performing dermatological and aesthetic procedures without a degree in Maharashtra, the Maharashtra Medical Council (MMC) has submitted a letter to the Medical Education and Drugs Department, demanding strong action against such quacks. The council warned that too many unqualified individuals are pretending to be dermatologists, posing a serious risk to public health.
In the letter, the council stated that unqualified and unregistered individuals calling themselves “skin specialists”, “trichologists”, and “aesthetic physicians” without proper medical degrees are increasing across Maharashtra, which is harming patients.

Hyderabad doctor loses Rs 14.61 crore in online trading scam
Hyderabad: In a major cyber fraud case, a 44-year-old doctor from Erragadda was reportedly duped of Rs 14.61 crore after investing in a fake online trading platform. The Telangana Cyber Security Bureau is currently investigating the case to identify the suspects and find out if others are involved.
According to the police, the doctor was first contacted via Facebook message on August 27 by a woman who introduced herself as Monika Madhavan from Chennai. She then soon shifted the conversation to Telegram and slowly gained his trust by sharing her personal life. She told the doctor about her marriage, which was about to end and that she was seeking a divorce from her husband.
