Refusing to accept the plea seeking a Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode for the NEET UG 2026 re-test on June 21 instead of its existing pen and paper mode, the Supreme Court of India observed similar requests had already been dismissed and said there was no justification for changing the examination format at a stage when authorities are already dealing with the challenges of reconducting the exam.

A division bench comprising Justice P.S. Narasimha and Justice Aravind Kumar made the observation on May 1, 2026 while hearing a writ petition filed by RJD MP Sudhakar Singh, social activist Anubhav Garg, Dr Dhruv Chauhan, National Spokesperson of the Indian Medical Association (IMA), and political leader Harisharan Devgan through advocate Satyam Singh Rajput, advocate-on-Record Neema, along with a legal team comprising Muskan Singh and Adarsh Singh.

On the use of pen-and-paper testing versus Computer-Based Test (CBT), and issues concerning NEET and the National Testing Agency, a doctors' body presented its views before the Chairman, Department-related Parliamentary Standing Committee on Education, Women, Children, Youth and Sports.

Dr Lakshya Mittal, Chairperson, United Doctors Front (UDF), on Monday had a constructive one-to-one interaction with the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee. The Chairman gave a hearing to the concerns, suggestions, and recommendations submitted by UDF in its detailed representation, reports ANI.

Rewari: To boost medical education in Haryana, the Union Health Ministry has approved a total of 50 MBBS seats at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rewari, paving the way for the commencement of the 2026 academic session at the institute.

A joint operation by Haryana and Uttar Pradesh police has exposed an alleged illegal sex-determination racket operating across districts between Sonipat and Amroha, leading to a case being registered against 13 people, including a doctor from Haryana.

According to the news reports, the case came to light after Haryana Police received a tip-off about a clinic in Sonipat allegedly facilitating illegal prenatal sex-determination tests for pregnant women from nearby districts, including Rohtak and Jhajjar. Acting on the information, a coordinated operation was launched with Amroha Police, leading to the exposure of what investigators describe as a cross-state network.
