Punjab and Haryana HC Orders CGHS to Form SOP for Medical Reimbursement Process
Criticising the delay in clearing a retired employee’s medical reimbursement, the Punjab and Haryana High Court directed the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) to put in place a comprehensive standard operating procedure (SOP) for processing such claims.
Taking a tough stand, Justice Harpreet Singh Brar imposed a cost of Rs 1 lakh on the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) for what the court described as an "inordinate, unreasonable and undignified" delay in settling a retiree’s medical claim.

RIMS Junior Doctors Protest Proposed 5-Year MBBS Bond Policy
The junior doctors at Ranchi-based Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) protested against the 5-year bond service policy, proposed by the State Government.
According to the junior doctors, making bond service mandatory in medical education could prove detrimental to the future of MBBS students in Jharkhand.

Mumbai Study Reveals 86 percent MBBS Students Using AI Chatbots for Academics
A Mumbai-based study has found widespread adoption of AI chatbots among MBBS students, with 86 percent using them for academic purposes and 97.7 percent aware of tools like ChatGPT.
Chatbots were mainly used for exam preparation, research support, and content summarisation, accessed largely via smartphones. However, only 35.6% knew prompt engineering, highlighting limited advanced use. While most students supported curricular integration, concerns over accuracy, reliability, and regulation remained. The study highlights the need for AI literacy and ethical guidance in medical education.

AI Must Complement Doctors’ Work, Not Substitute Them: NMC Chairperson
NMC Chairperson and NBEMS President Dr Abhijat Sheth recently pointed out that artificial intelligence will play an important role in healthcare but cautioned against over-dependence on it, stressing that AI must complement, not replace, doctors and should never compromise ethical or clinical values.
He was referring to the free AI course launched by NBEMS, which aims to familiarise undergraduate and postgraduate trainees with AI applications while reinforcing responsible and ethical use.
