MRI machine crushes nurse in a horrifying accident in California

A nurse named Ainah Cervantes in California faced a terrifying incident at a medical center where she became trapped between an MRI machine and a hospital bed. This unfortunate accident resulted in serious injuries that required surgery, as reported by Fox News. According to Cervantes' account shared with investigators, she was pushed by the hospital bed and had to run backward to avoid being crushed by it.

As a result of this incident, Nurse Cervantes suffered a severe laceration that necessitated surgical treatment, during which two embedded screws had to be removed. Remarkably, the patient who fell from the bed onto the floor was not harmed in this incident.

This has indeed become a matter of huge debate ever since a plea was filed in the Supreme Court, last month, questioning the ethics and legal implications of the live broadcast of surgical procedures.

While one faction of the medical fraternity does believe that live surgeries are indeed risky and pose a strong risk to patient safety with the presence of many distractions to the performing surgeon, there is another faction that believes that these types of surgeries are integral to medical education and one of the best ways of training young doctors on various surgical modalities

In a truly extraordinary medical procedure at AIIMS Hospital in Bhopal, India, doctors performed an unconventional brain surgery to remove a tumor while the patient remained awake and even played the piano. This remarkable technique, known as an awake craniotomy, involves keeping the patient conscious during the surgery, allowing continuous monitoring of their motor functions and responses. The surgery was conducted on a 28-year-old man from Bihar's Buxar who had been suffering from frequent seizures.

Free rapid MRI service at AIIMS Delhi to asses iron deposition in cardiac muscle of thalassemia patients

The AIIMS Delhi has started providing free-of-cost rapid cardiac MRI service which can assess the amount of deposition of iron in the cardiac muscle in patients suffering from thalassemia in around eight minutes.

This service is currently being provided free of cost to all thalassemia patients at the hospital as part of AIIMS- University College London (UCL) collaboration project, Dr Priya Jagia, head of department of Cardiovascular Radiology at AIIMS, Delhi said on Wednesday.
