NEET SS Counselling: MCC Announces Round 2 Schedule, Check Details
The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has released the schedule for Round 2 of All India National Eligibility and Entrance Test -Super Speciality (NEET SS) Counselling 2025 for admission to DM, MCh and DNB SS courses.
As per the schedule, the registration will close at 3:00 PM tomorrow, i.e. August 5, 2026, while the Round 2 allotment result will be declared on August 7, 2026.

NEET OMR Sheet Tampering Allegations Need Credible Evidence, Rules Chhattisgarh HC
The Chhattisgarh High Court has dismissed a petition filed by a NEET (UG) 2026 candidate who alleged that his Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) answer sheet had been tampered with, resulting in a sharp drop in his score. The petitioner claimed he expected to secure over 600 marks but was awarded only 200, alleging that several responses shown in the scanned OMR sheet differed from those he had marked during the examination. He sought production of the original OMR sheet and correction of his result. However, the National Testing Agency (NTA) argued that the candidate had not first used the prescribed grievance redressal mechanism before approaching the High Court, according to the Court Book report.
A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Ramesh Sinha and Justice Ravindra Kumar Agrawal held that serious allegations of tampering with official examination records cannot be accepted solely on the basis of personal comparison or suspicion without credible supporting evidence. The Court observed that the petitioner relied only on his own assessment and failed to demonstrate arbitrariness, illegality or procedural irregularity in the evaluation process. It also noted that the candidate had bypassed the available grievance mechanism before filing the writ petition. Accordingly, the High Court declined to order production of the original OMR sheet or re-evaluation and dismissed the petition.
Long 24-Hour Duties Pose Risk to PG Medicos Mental Health: NMC Tells Supreme Court
A long, round-the-clock duty roster is one of the leading causes of mental health issues in postgraduate medical students across India, the National Medical Commission (NMC) told the Supreme Court.
Submitting its affidavit in response to the PIL demanding implementation of the 1992 Uniform Residency Scheme for resident doctors, NMC further added that even the National Task Force 2024, in its report, agreed that excessive duty hours posed risks to the physical and mental health of medical students and compromised patient safety.

Chandipura Virus: Gujarat Reports 22 Child Deaths, 7 Under Treatment
Gujarat has reported 35 confirmed cases and 22 deaths due to Chandipura virus (CHPV) among children during the current monsoon season, State Health Minister Praful Panseriya informed on Monday, 3rd August. Of the 184 suspected cases reported so far, 35 have tested positive, while 11 sample reports are still pending. All confirmed patients are below 15 years of age, with seven children currently undergoing treatment at civil hospitals in Gandhinagar, Rajkot and other districts. The Minister said cases have emerged from different parts of the state rather than being concentrated in a single village, and affected children are receiving specialised treatment under close medical supervision.
To contain the outbreak, the Gujarat government has intensified surveillance and vector-control measures, including pesticide spraying in animal husbandry areas to eliminate sandflies, the primary carriers of the virus. Government and private hospitals have also been directed to immediately admit symptomatic children to ICUs equipped with oxygen and ventilator support to prevent severe complications such as multiple organ failure. Chandipura virus causes viral encephalitis, leading to inflammation of the brain, and was first identified in Chandipura village in Maharashtra's Nagpur district in 1965, reports The Telegraph.
