NEET SS 2023: Special Counselling announced for vacant medical seats
The Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) has issued a notice regarding the conduct of a special round for unfilled DM/M.Ch and DNB SS seats under the All India Quota (AIQ) by MCC. Subsequently, another notice has also been issued, permitting candidates allocated from INI-SS to submit their resignations.
The notice has been issued to notify all eligible candidates for NEET SS 2023 that a special round will be conducted by the competent authority. This round aims to fill the vacant D.M/ M.Ch/ DNB SS seats remaining after Round 2 of SS Counseling 2023 of AIQ. This step has been taken to prevent the wastage of previous medical seats.

FDA busts bogus medicine racket, seizes 21,600 'antibiotic' tablets at Nagpur hospital
The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has exposed a bogus medicine racket and seized 21,600 tablets that had been passed off as antibiotic ciprofloxacin from a government hospital in Nagpur, an official said on Saturday.
Three persons, including a Thane resident who is already in jail in a similar case, have been booked in connection with the seizure, he said

65000 ‘ghost patients’ underwent tests at Delhi mohalla clinics last year, says ACB
An initial inquiry by the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) of the Delhi government has uncovered that 65,000 fictitious patients underwent pathological tests at Mohalla clinics through private labs from February to December 2023. Two private labs conducted around 2.2 million tests during this period, with 65,000 identified as fraudulent. The government paid ₹4.63 crore to these labs for the tests.
British Indian doctor to undertake ground-breaking trial of bowel cancer vaccine
A British Indian doctor is the chief investigator of a ''ground-breaking'' trial of a vaccine to treat early bowel cancer for patients worldwide, following a UK-Australia collaboration between scientists and doctors.
Dr Tony Dhillon, a Consultant Medical Oncologist at the Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust, proposed the idea for the trial and has worked with Professor Tim Price in Australia for the last four years to develop the vaccine.
The trial, announced recently, will be run by the Cancer Research UK Southampton Clinical Trials Unit at the University of Southampton in collaboration with Royal Surrey and Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Adelaide, Australia.

Union health min asks docs to serve in remote areas
During the fourth convocation ceremony of AIIMS Jodhpur on Saturday, Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Mansukh Mandaviya encouraged newly graduated doctors to voluntarily serve in remote areas without the necessity of signing a bond imposed by the government. At the ceremony, Mandaviya presented medals to 22 students, and approximately 780 undergraduate, postgraduate, nursing, and super-specialty students were conferred with degrees.
Emphasizing a sense of duty among all citizens towards the nation, Mandaviya highlighted that the medical profession is a service to humanity, not a commercial endeavor. He urged the graduating doctors to willingly contribute their skills and expertise to remote areas, fostering a commitment to public health without the need for mandatory agreements.
