Karnataka Govt proposes restricting compulsory service only for GMC graduates
Introducing major changes in the compulsory rural service policy in Karnataka, the State Health Department has proposed to restrict it only to the students in government medical colleges.
This policy change has been proposed by the Health Department of Karnataka with the aim to lessen the financial burden on the government. If implemented, this can lead to Rs 544 crore annual savings.
With the implementation of this rule, compulsory rural service in Karnataka will no longer be applicable to medical students belonging to private medical colleges in the State.

Pune doctor attacked in the clinic over a parking dispute
In a shocking incident, a 30-year-old doctor was allegedly thrashed by three unknown men who also ransacked his clinic after he requested the removal of their vehicle parked in front of his clinic. The Pimpri Chinchwad police arrested the accused on Friday.
Based on the doctor's complaint, the trio were arrested by the police under various relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The doctor suffered severe injuries on his legs and left eye following the attack.

#NoNExTfor2019batch: Protest against National Exit Test escalates
The protest against the upcoming National Exit Test (NExT) is escalating further with the announcement of Twitter storms, All India Protest Week, and the submission of signature petitions.
Opposing the exam, already All India Democratic Students' Organisation (AIDSO) has given a call to observe protest week from July 1 to July 7, 2023, in this regard. The association has also announced its decision to hold protest demonstrations throughout the country including the State capitals.
The association has demanded to "repeal the decision of imposing NEXT 1 on final year MBBS students in mid-session." Further, another demand of the association is to "resist introduction of NEXT- the blueprint to handover medical education to private coaching centers."

NBE invites applications from hospitals seeking accreditation for post MBBS two year diploma courses July - August cycle
Applications are invited from the hospitals for seeking accreditation with NBEMS for Post MBBS two-year Diploma courses in 9 broad specialty programs for July / August Cycle. The National Board of Examinations (NBE) has released a detailed information bulletin.
The last date for online submission of the application form is 31.8.2023, and the last date for receipt of the Hard Copy of the application form at the NBEMS Office is 15.9.2023.
